Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is an Mexican American sportscaster. Her current job is with ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and occasionally host SportsNation. She began working for ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. She's the daughter of the TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from the time she turned nine. It is this skill that allowed her to get her first role as an Univision production assistant in Miami. There, she worked with the producers of television shows that were national, like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then she was promoted to a reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. Then, in 2009 the reporter relocated into Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. In reporting on news stories about the trafficking of drugs and immigration on both sides the Texas-Mexico Border, she worked as an anchor on the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 from 5pm, then a news reporter on English at 9 pm and the news anchor was on until 10pm, before returning back to KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. She also filled in for sports anchors and weather forecasters. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasthe affiliate of Univision Dallas, and she takes on more responsibility. She reported on events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseason, as well as the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was host of the local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She became a sports host on the morning show that is Despierta America Deportes. The same job was held as a sports anchor for Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo for the UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. At some point they moved to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. She is older than her sister. The family moved from Mexico to Miami in 1992, after having left Mexico. Within a brief time her father separated from her mother and she then remarried in 1995 a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. Her residence was with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister during the summer in which she was given an opportunity to work. Antonietta was a senior high school student and was very aware of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University to find out if the school was suitable for her. The result was that she liked the campus, and the university offered the major she wanted. After completing the requirements for high school, she was accepted into the University to pursue media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor as well as the director of WRMU and WRMU, which she is a member. They formed a strong friendship. Her professor Mark Bergmann inspired her with his enthusiasm for journalism. Also, he deeply affected her.
